At the time of its establishment, the founders of the Commission understood it would be useful to make avaialbe some tools which would facilitate the comparative study of European cities.

One resource was the publication of the national bibliographies, which presented in the first volumes, country by country, some of the major literature relative to the history of towns. Later that publication was suspended, and in its stead were used some minor publications and additions distributed in photocopy during the annual meetings.

Now the present web site proposes the collection of recent national bibliographies in computer mode, under the care of individual members, by means of the page reserved to members, where it is possible to augment the national bibliographies and add personal bibliographies. Every member is furnished with a user id and password which permits one to execute additions to his or her own curriculum.
